Funny thing about that first post

I made that first post 30 Oct. 2007. 1 day later I would find out I had no job. The company I was working for decided to downsize and outsource a lot of the work. I ended up getting a job, and here I am 2 years later... a new job, renaming the blog and a new outlook.

Lessons learned

Lesson 1- Don't start a blog that you really are not that interested in pursuing.

Lesson 2- Try not to be too condescending about the difficulties of the restaurant industry.

Lesson 3- Forget the restaurants and cook it yourself.

Lesson 4- Try again?

First!

My very first post.

The reason I am starting this blog is to share some of my adventures in dining here in Germany. I have to say that some places have been wonderful while others have left me disgusted.

This is not to say that I am picky, but I would like it that a restaurant actually cooks it's own food. It seems that the amount of restaurants here that buy finished food is on the rise. I know personally four restaurants that have the exact same schnitzel and bratwurst. These are simple dishes that do not need to be made in advance, frozen, thawed, and finally cooked. The bratwurst does need a bit of prep, but not enough to justify buying it bulk from a butcher, or worse, a gastronomy warehouse.

I am planning on making a critique sheet so that all the restaurants have the same criteria and not just ramblings from the top of my head.

So, if there is anyone out there reading this.... Stay tuned.
